Charlise hummed at what Blaine had said, recalling what Elizabeth had told her when she met her quite briefly some time ago. "I suppose to a point that does make some sense... But at least we seem to only fill the lesser roles and nothing too high... Otherwise there would be chaos...." She mused as she walked beside Blaine.
Charlise paused a little as Blaine asked her how she met Jamie and sighed so told him, "Tax collection..... I'd just arrived so didn't know what was going on and Ser James was in charge of that particular patrol... Then we had Trolls arrive....." She replied, sticking with the necessary facts for now.
Stepping into the tavern, Charlise didn't drop her guard for some time as she perched herself gently onto a seat, the last time she was in a Tavern was back in The Spoiled Princess just outside of the Tower for a celebratory drink for the Mages when they returned from the Coronation of King Alistair.
Smiling as she took a sip, Charlise noted that Blaine had touched her fingers so curled them a little away from him in almost a twitch. "Sorry... I'm not used to people touching me, or even touching people when not Healing....." She apologised which was mostly the truth as she put down her horn. "And yes, just the one... Magic and Alcohol doesn't generally mix well...." She chuckled, her silvery grey eyes sparkling as her black hair slightly shimmered, despite being pulled back into a plaited bun. She hoped that the subtle pulling away of her fingers showed Blaine that this wasn't something she was used to, and was uncomfortable about it.

Blaine quirked a brow when she mentioned they filled the lesser roles when they arrived. He had to agree. Imagine if he had ten kings and queens walking around and appearing and disappearing. Now that would be chaos. He was the rightful King and Nalaac was the rightful queen. When his ale came he was quite eager for a drink. Blaine winced when he heard about the Tax collection and the trolls that arrived.
"Perky creatures. I do hope you survived them well enough and that Jamie proved himself a good knight fit to serve the throne." He pressed for a little more information. He wanted to make sure that Jamie was doing his job well enough. When she pulled her fingers away from him, he gave a slow sigh and lowered his eyes to his drink nodding slowly. He took big gulps of his drink and glanced around the tavern before flashing his eyes back at her.
"Understood, Mage. I believe even children and alcohol don't mix well either. So I'm told anyway." Oh children. Did he have bastards out there somewhere in the world as well? He wondered faintly. It would be such a great pleasure to have children. Maybe Nalaac would at some point produce a few.

Charlise nodded at both of the statements, "Well, in answer to both, I probably wouldn't be here if either were not the case, your Majesty.... Ser James is fine Knight, and a good man... Better than many I've known in my life... Probably accounts for..." She stopped talking then as she took a long gulp of, whatever was in the horn.
Looking down into the contacts of the horn, Charlise's eyes filled with tears as she recalled many nights with her fellow Mages, drinking Ale at dinner that the Tranquil made, the many times she'd almost let slip about her old Mentor actually being her Mother..... At that thought, one tear slid down her eyes and landed in the horn as she shut her silver eyes and bowed her head before muttering softly to herself in a language she probably wouldn't have spoken aloud in back home, but here it made no difference.
"So they say.... I wouldn't know though... Where I come from, we make sure the children don't get to the Ale. We have... Ways of making sure they don't, and that we're alerted if they try to." She stated as she saw one young man approach. "Don't bother, Serah..... Not if you don't want to be Stone Fisted into the next Age..." She forewarned without bothering or needing to look at him.

Blaine was surprised when she suddenly stopped talking after she mentioned what a good man James had been. He felt a sudden air of pride at the fact that Sir James was representing him so well and his shoulders squared a little more. "I am immensely glad to he- Are you okay?" The King leaned in worriedly peering at the mage when she started looking down into her drink, seemingly upset.
Did he upset her in a way or something that he was not aware of? He certainly hoped not. It would be the third woman he'd upset in just under a month. He was on a record of he kept upsetting these women. First Liz then his wife and now his new body guard. Suddenly her eyes shut and she spoke a completely different language making him frown in surprise at her and tilt his head to the side. What? He was incredibly confused by her words but instead of pushing it he simply sighed and lowered his head.
The King lifted his eyes and smirked when she warned the other young man to stay back. His eyes flashed from her to his subject and he took a few gulps of his drink before setting the horn down once again. "I think it would be a good idea for us to set up one of those mentioned spells maybe. The ones you used on the children. We have a few things to protect in this kingdom if you are interested in serving. " Blaine offered politely before waving his hand to dismiss the man that came toward the mage.
Several knight and guards, off duty and drinking in the tavern at the time, got to their feet in order to get the man away from the king and the mage if he refused to move.

Collecting her composure swiftly after that tear and her small prayer (despite being spoken in Ancient Tevinter), Charlise shook her head a little. "I'm sorry, it wasn't anything you said... This just... Reminded me of many meals, not only with my Brothers and Sisters..... But my Mother as well.... And some of the friends I made during the War..... Whom I'll probably never see again...." She sighed softly as she tucked back one of her black curls behind her ear before taking another gulp of what was in her horn. Then realising it was empty so lowered it again.
Nodding as she looked at Blaine, Charlise smirked as the man was dragged off by the Guards before she turned back, mind not without casting a small Winter's Grasp on one particular area of his anatomy which made her smirk even more pronounced. "I have a few spells which I can easily note down with some pronunciation, so that anyone with magic may perform it which would make such a task easier in the long run." She replied with a nod of her head, her mind ticking over the possibilities logically.

Blaine frowned when she lowered the horn again and leaned in a bit to not that all her ale was gone. "Would you like another? " The king raised his hand despite her mentioning she didn't have the time or the courage to take another. He was enjoying talking to her and found her smile when the guards came, enlightening. It was definitely a sweet thing to see.
He gave a little chuckle under his breath. "If I didn't know any better. I'd say you were a cruel cruel woman." Blaine teased her almost half suspiciously before moving to ease back in his chair, half turning to watch the other male suddenly cry out and scream about his...Hmmm. Blaine pursed his lips in a slight wince then flashed his eyes to Charlise letting out a deep laugh before nodding impressed by what she'd just done.
"Remind me never to make you mad. I would like an heir for the crown in the future. " He said with a humorous tone to his voice. When her horn came he lifted his own as if to propose a toast. "To the future of Albanon!" He called out and quite a number of occupants jumped to their feet and cheered. "Long live the King!!!!" The occupants screamed and suddenly music broke out and dancing and singing, a little ditty about his father and him. Blaine laughed at the pats he received on the back and the pleasant atmosphere, his blue eyes twinkling when they met Charlise's

Charlise opened her mouth to refuse but then changed her mind so shrugged, "Why not.... I've already used up enough Mana that I'll need a night to recharge so... I'm not going to be too dangerous..." She replied.
Tilting her head to the side to look at Blaine, Charlise's smirk remained on her face. "You have no idea, how cruel I can be....." She stated with a slightly richer, or even husky tone of voice before she cleared her throat. "Simple.... Just respect me, and don't try to come at me with a sword... Either kind, unless I welcome them of course..." There was a double meaning to her words as she welcomed the ale with a gracious hand.
As the others rose to a toast, Charlise raised her horn, "To the Future of Albanon, and long live the King." She toasted before allowing herself a gulp of ale. As her silvery grey eyes met Blaine's, Charlise smiled a little as her control of her magic slipped a little from lack of Mana, her luscious Raven black hair beginning to turn a pure white at the roots and slowly descended down but the youth in her face remained.
