I come from a place where ....

I am queen. I married the King in an arranged marriage about six months ago. I’m only just settling into my new role. I am the eldest daughter of the Varken Clan, the oldest Elvan clan in these parts. I am extremely adept at maneuvering politically, having been raised from my birth to expect this marriage. I have studied history, geography, dance, politics, religion, and the domestic arts. I am fluent in several languages, so that I can communicate with the diplomats and strangers that make their way to our court.

I know far more about our world, and the others than I let on. I like that people think I’m nothing more than a pretty ornament for the King’s arm. I am not blind to his affairs, but since this was arranged, it was to be expected. People seem to pity me, which works in my favor, as they are continually trying to find ways to help me and give me information they think I should know. I use my beauty to my advantage.

While strangers are not killed on site in our court, that would be outside the realm of polite behavior, they are ignored unless they have something important to impart. A few of the strangers have helped flesh out our knowledge of what happens here, and why we only see them every now and again. One or two of them have become spies for us.

Trust me, I am working to take over the reins of this country from my rather reckless and spolit husband.
