James moved to lean back against the table watching her when she repeated the question, his bright blue eyes full of intelligence just like hers. He gave a soft sigh and dropped his head when she said yes and then flicked his head up again making his black curls bounce on his head. He straightened from his slouched position and took her hand giving it a soft squeeze as was his custom from his world. He didn't really think she was expecting him to kiss it. If she thought he'd kiss it, she had another thing coming.
He was already having to kiss random flirty servant girl's hands and the only hand he wanted to little kisses on at the moment was his Nathaniel's hand. "Jamie Lane. Do our family and friends get brought to this place as well? I'm looking for four people in that case. Four very important people. Wait... more importantly, why am I here in the first place?" Jamie dropped her hand when she turned her back on him for a second.
He frowned at her strange custom then jerked backward when he saw her skin being torn open. He gave a little start and a gasp leaning across the table away from her when he wings started to tear through her skin. His hand covered his mouth in horror to keep from wanting to throw up. Jamie gave a cry when her wings gave a flap sending pages flying and ornaments crashing to the ground when she did that. All Jamie could do was duck down into a crouch and then like she hadn't just meant to ruin the place she smiled at him.
He gave a wince and slowly straightened himself up before her. "That's... nice." Crazy angelic creatures, Kings who think they are all that, Farm girls who had magic. I'm going crazy... myself. Jamie thought, his blue eyes slightly widened as he stared at her, sliding along the table to where she'd knocked things off and started to collect papers.
"Maybe it's best you keep those things folded in here. It's uh... a tiny place. Servants don't big places so... for the sake of messing things up that I have to clean up afterward maybe it's best you keep them folded." He murmured shooting her an uncertain glance as he began gathering broken glass until a piece sliced into his finger tip. He winced and hissed, bringing his finger to his lips. There was a strange liquid o-... strong taste to the liquid.... he slowly leaned backward, his head growing heavier and heavier...
Jamie toppled over backward having apparently found the king's sleeping draft... and fell fast asleep...

Smiling, Elizabeth shook his hand, she wasn't that set in the past, she knew how to move forward but it was always difficult to tell with people. Elizabeth shrugged though at his question, "I don't think so.... I haven't met many others, so far..... I'm the only one from my world.... But I certainly wouldn't want my d......" She sighed as her shoulders fell, "I wouldn't want my friends or family here.... Not with what I've been through so far...."
Elizabeth had thankfully picked out the widest area, and she could remember what was where so she swiftly tucked in her wings as she got the bottle near her, not at all bothered by the bits of paper that went flying. Setting up the bottles again, and spotting the ones that had cracked were only the ones with dry ingredients in, Elizabeth raised an eyebrow at Jamie, "Sorry about that... I kept my wings inside for over a month..... Have you any idea how hard that is?" She questioned before smiling, seeing his expression and interpreting his thoughts. "You're not crazy..... We have both been sent to a different world.... Or dimension, where all other worlds seemed to have been connected to......" She replied.
Seeing Jamie topple over, Elizabeth quickly and gently caught him before she sighed with a gentle shake of her head, "That is why you should drain the liquid first before you pick up broken pieces of glass or pottery." She stated before easily carrying him to the next room and onto the bed before she cleaned up the mess and slightly inhaled the liquid, working it out as the sleeping draft.
Shaking her head of the very slight weary feeling she had, Elizabeth found a recipe to help wake up Jamie so set to work. After a while, she administered it to James before waving some smelling salts under his nose. "Come along, young man... It's not a good idea to fall asleep now...."

Jamie was fast and happily asleep until the salts burned down his throat and he flinched instantly away from it, rubbing at his nose and frowning. He half sat up and glared over his shoulder at the smelling salts. "Oh God! What is that?! It's awful..." Jamie hissed before the aching pain in his head caught his attention and he flopped back down into the bed, his hand moving up to rub at his temples.
"Oh my head... what happened?" Things were kinda blurry too and as Jamie parted and closed his mouth he could taste something acrid on his tongue. His face twisted in disgust. "How can I be feeling great one minute and the next feel like death warmed up? " His weary blue eyes fluttered to Elizabeth then blinked a couple of times before he sat up instantly.
This happened every day. Every morning he'd wake up, sit up rapidly in the hope that his brother was on the top bunk snoring away and that the poster of Marilyn Monroe was there to greet him with her pursed lips and her bright eyes but no such thing came. No beautiful blonde met him. Instead he saw an open doorway leading to the room in which he'd... well, fainted. Why had he fainted in the first place. He flopped a little, pouting his lips in annoyance before flashing his eyes at Liz.
"What happened?" Did he even want to know the answer to that question?

Elizabeth smiled as she put the stopper on the smelling salts and put them on the bedside table before perching on the edge of her bed, "Smelling salts, dear..... Work a treat every time!" She stated as she gently felt his head for any damage or to see if she needed something to cure something similar to a hangover.
"You cut your finger on a vial which contained the King's Sleeping Draft... You unfortunately tasted it and so, you became unconscious...." She stated as her wings twitched a little bit as she looked into his blue eyes with her own emerald ones, looking for any signs of something worse as her fingers gently rushed away some of his hair so that it wasn't in the way. Like it was something she had often done before as she didn't scrape her nails against his head but her finger pads.
Fetching a cloth, Elizabeth ran it along Jamie's lips to remove the remains of the Draft before handing him a glass of water. "Take your time, no need to rush about anywhere just yet....." She smiled as she left, having cleared everything up before she returned with a blank green journal. "Whilst you recover a little, why don't you tell me about yourself?" She stated so that could note some things down. She had started on herself with the bare parts of information: Her age, her species in both Latin and English, the world she came from and where she had been.

Jamie closed his eyes when she felt his forehead. "Oh James Clark Lane. I told you a million times not to go out with wet hair. Wet hair causes a cold." "Actually..." "Jacob.... Not the time, smarty pants." His heart ached. Mom.. They all missed the brown haired woman with the bright blue eyes, the inquisitive mind and the accepting nature.
They missed their mom and they missed their father. Adults. He missed adults and he was in seventh heaven being touched like this by Liz. She had a mother's touch this doctor. His eyes fluttered open and he fixed them on her almost lovingly, a soft smile curling on his lips. Jamie closed his eyes once more when she wiped his lips and he slowly half sat up to begin drinking from the glass she gave him. He took a deep breath when she returned with a journal and his eyes flashed from it to her.
"You'd make a great mother you know..." Jamie said suddenly. He'd always been prone to saying the right things. He was careful with what he said most of the time but it did feel right to tell her this. "Are you going to record stuff about me? That's a good idea actually. It might help connect travellers eventually you know." Jamie responded then put the glass down and lay back letting his eyes fix on her face.
"My name is Jamie Lane though it used to be Kent before my mom remarried. I have two younger brothers. Jason and Jacob though Jake prefers to be called Bell. I'm from a world where adults have died out due to a very bad virus that attacked their immune systems. I nearly died to. My brother, the older one of the two, saved my life by taking me to this gang. They had some type of vaccine. I think I survived the virus. Other than that... uh... I'm not sure what else to tell you....I... I miss my mom. I wish I'd spent more time with her but Bell was her kid. Not me. She loved Bell and my dad loved me. You know, parents don't mean to have favorites but sometimes some parents just get on better with a kid more like them. Uncle Richard ... " Jamie frowned.
Uncle Richard raped Jason. Jamie swallowed. She didn't need to know that....

Seeing the gaze in Jamie's eyes, Elizabeth's heart melted a little as her eyes softened in a way that only Mothers could do as she smiled back gently as she watched him slowly sit up before Jamie drank some water.
Hearing his comment as she sat back down, Elizabeth smiled softly with a slight chuckle, "Well..... There is a bit of a.... Reason, that people say that to me." She stated slightly cryptically before she sighed. "Actually, it's because the King has ordered me to record any Travelers that are in existance in the Realms..... He wants to know about them, though he thinks that he can stop them from coming here." She stated before adding, "Plus, it'll help the next person to take my post if they are healing a Traveler."
She then began to note down some of the things he said: His name (including the fact that it changed), the siblings he had, how old he was, also his species name in English and Latin.
She looked up when Jamie mentioned about parents not technically supposing to have favourites and a haunted smile appeared on her lips. "No, we don't generally have favourites..... Because our children are reflections of ourselves and our... Well our Soul-Mates or Partners so it's hard to say that parents have 'favourites'..... But we will often connect more with the children where we see reflections of ourselves more, than reflections of our partners." She stated in reply, not as an assumption but as if she knew the answer personally.

Jamie frowned when he heard the cryptic response he got. There was a reason people said that to her? What was that reason then? He licked his lips and gave a soft sigh trying not to get too distracted with it. He gave her a soft nod and offered her a smile. Apparently they had a lot to learn about one another it seemed. It had been so long since he'd been in the presence of another adult. It felt good and made him feel safe again. How he'd missed being guided by an adult.
She explained about the journal the King ordered her to keep and nodded slowly in response to her words. The corner of Jamie's eyes crinkled into a smile. Ah, Blaine had some sense then. He just seemed to play the part of an idiot which Jamie never understood. The King had so much intellect, yet he hid it behind idiocy. Jamie blinked when she finally mentioned that she did have children. So she knew what it was like to be a mother then?
"You have kids too? Tell me about them?" Jamie sat forward pushing his hair back with deftly fingers brushing through the thick curls. He wanted someone to speak of their children the way a parent would. Just someone to remind him that he had parents too and that they could and possibly would speak about him the same way she spoke about her kids.

Smiling softly, Elizabeth let Jamie think over her words as she finished up what she had on Jamie thus far and put the Journal to the side for the ink to dry off before she would be able to close it.
That much she recalled easily as Helen had often written in ink and quill to keep parts of the old days in their lives which Elizabeth loved in her dearest friend/fellow semi-immortal, it was something that the two bonded over during morning tea.
Then came Jamie's exclamation as Elizabeth sighed, "What gave me away?! The fact that I knew what I was saying, or was it something else?" She stated as she turned around again before sitting back down and felt his forehead to check if there was a bad reaction from the Sleeping Draft.
"Yes.... I have three....... Almost four...." She answered as sadness filled her heart before she continued anyway, "2 sons and a daughter, my eldest Jonathon was basically a replica of his father so we nicknamed him JJ, "Jonathon Junior"...... My daughter, Elissa, was 1/4 Angel but that was all she had from me, everything else was from her father... Then my youngest son... Robert, was an Abnormal, had the speed, strength and Healing of an Angel but not the wings which was somewhat strange....." She sighed as she thought about her children, her two sons were now dead and her daughter barely wanted to know her anymore.
"Then there's the Grandchildren and great-grandchildren.... But that will take some time....."" Elizabeth chuckled as she looked at Jamie, waiting for all of that to kick in and for the inevitable question to crop up.

Jamie smirked. For an angel she didn't pay much attention to the things she was saying herself. "You said 'We don't have favorites' Referring to yourself as 'we' when speaking about parents, gave you away." He didn't know if she was teasing him with the question or really wasn't paying attention to what she was saying. No one knew what they were talking about with parenting. These things just kinda happened.
There was no handbook when you had kids and every child was different. At least that was what he'd been told by his dad once or twice. She mentioned children then grandchildren then great grandchildren and Jamie's eyes widened a bit. "Wow, you look good for your age. " Jamie teased. No, he wasn't going to ask. Angels were sorta immortal. He wasn't that stupid. He could have guessed she was old.
He just kinda thought that angels fell if they ... well had lust during sex. Apparently some angels were safe from falling. Maybe half angels, Nephilim got to experience sex which was probably a good thing. He couldn't imagine what it was like to not be able to consummate your love to someone else.

Elizabeth mentally chastised herself but she chuckled anyway as she shook her head, "You have good hearing..... That's good." She praised as she sighed a little, she had a good feeling about this young man. They were going to work out well.
Elizabeth shrugged, "Part of the package really...... Some would say it is a blessing, others a curse that we Angels live for so long that our Physical growth is a lot different than that of..... Humans...." She stated before adding, "To save any embarrassment of you having to ask the question.... I am 156 years old..... Soon 157. And I haven't even reached one tenth of my possible lifespan." She replied to the question that Jamie didn't ask, simply and easily with a mere shrug at her age.
Seeing a look on his face as he was thinking, Elizabeth tilted her head to the side. "If you have any questions, you can ask them, Jamie..... Hardly anything embarrasses me anymore, so you can ask me anything....." She stated, seeing that he had questions but not which ones, she was Empathic not Telepathic after all.

Jamie gave her a softened smile and nodded slowly when she complimented him. "Mom often said I was a good watcher, you know?" Jamie winced when he felt a stab of pain in his heart. How his missed his mother. He missed his parents. He missed high school, college, normality. He missed working at his dad's work shop on Saturdays, picking Jacob up from Camera Club, collecting Jason from the diner he worked at for spare cash to buy this that and the other for his Taxidermy hobby.
His middle brother was creepy as shit but that didn't make him love Jason any less than he already did. Jamie's face grew stoic for a moment listening to Liz continue. Nothing surprised him anymore so he didn't quite do much when she said her age. It didn't matter how old she was. It didn't matter what she was. Nothing would change anything. Things just got more and more abnormal and he didn't like it one bit. The only human around here was Blaine and he was clinging to the King for dear life now.
Blaine was normal. Blaine was his comfort zone. The fact that Liz was an angel didn't make him feel any sorts of comforts and he actually felt like jumping to his feet and running out the room straight to Blaine... Normality. "Right. Um... I should be going. I'm fine now really. We have training at sunset. I'm feeling much better now. Really Ma'am. " Jamie shuffled out the opposite side of where Liz sat.
Normal. He wanted normal damn it! Why couldn't he just meet a nice normal girl? Why did it have to be an angel or an elf or a mage? Hell, Normal was becoming abnormal by the looks of things. Liz's question stopped him in his tracks at the door and he half turned to face her before shaking his head. "Look I've very much had it up to here with weird. I come from a world where Elves belong in fantasy books and angels belong in the bible. I seriously don't wanna know... I... really haven't had normal in at least three years. I just miss normal. " He would be so over a redneck cowboy boot girl from Texas right now.
Talking to a girl like that about barn dancing and horse riding and the derby they held every year back home... urgh... it was just a little too much for one human to take. He just wanted out already... just for a while. "I'll uh... be home round dinner time. Blai- er... His Majesty ordered I move in here. I'll go pack my stuff before training. I see ya later kay?" He saluted her and headed out into the main room crossing it to the door.

Elizabeth smiled warmly as Jamie mentioned his Mother as she added, "She is right.... A skill very few people possess these days..." She then sensed Jamie's pain and her eyes softened as she gently rubbed his hands with her thumb in small circles.
Seeing him move away, Elizabeth simply let him talk, let everything out that he wanted to have out before she stood and followed him, swiftly but gently grabbing his arm. "Jamie...." She sighed but with a comforting tone as she rubbed his arm a little,"Take some time to let this run through your mind, this isn't normal for me either....." She stated before she gently cupped his cheek with her hand, "When it's you and me, it's Elizabeth.... And you don't need to salute me, ok?" She stated as she gently rubbed her thumb across his cheek, hoping it would help as her eyes told him how she understood how he was feeling.

Jamie started to a halt then she grabbed his arm and for a brief split second he wanted to snack her across the face. Madison had received a lot of back-handers in their time together and even she had learned to be careful around him. Once she Jamie lowered his eyes to watch her rub at his arm and swallowed hard, feeling very uncomfortable about it but he didn't freak out too much and when she touched his cheek and said it wasn't normal for her either, his eyes dropped. How could it NOT be normal for her?
She'd had a hundred odd years of being an angel and now she claimed it wasn't normal for her? Jamie nodded. It wasn't like this was the most important thing he'd discovered in this universe. Possibly the most strangest was the trolls. He'd seriously flipped out right then. Jamie's eyes snapped back to her when she mentioned the salute thing and a grin flashed across his features.
"It's a gesture we do in my world when we're saying 'Laterz' ... er... goodbye." He turned his face away from her hand for a moment glancing to the door then back to her. "You're NOT the weirdest think I've heard about. I'd just like Blain-the King's company right now. He's perfectly human. " Perfectly normal...

Elizabeth nodded softly as Jamie had let her rub his arm and touch his cheek but she let him go all the same, now was not the time to talk. She chuckled a little at his explanation of the salute and nodded, "Alright then, seems I still have much to learn then..." She smiled warmly as she sighed a little.
Nodding in understanding, Elizabeth gave a small smile, "I understand.... Maybe we'll talk more later?" She compromised before adding, "Any allergies I should be made aware of?!" She stated with a small smile to the side, trying to lighten the mood a little bit but also slightly serious for when the cooks came with their dinners.
Elizabeth didn't want Jamie to feel like he was just an Apprentice to her...... She wanted him to know that already, she had started to care for the young man and she hoped it reflected in her eyes as she gave a small wave of her hand. "Off you go, I shall see you later Jamie." She smiled affectionately as she gave a small wave.

Jamie smirked when she mentioned she had a lot to learn and he gave a nod shrugging a little. "I'll try and teach you if you are willing to learn that is. " He offered with a soft smile before lowering his eyes. He knew she was only trying to be thoughtful and kind but there was only so much a human could take before they didn't want anything to do with anything anymore and he'd reached that point. Jamie nodded when she asked if they could talk later.
"Sure, we will." He offered. He was sleeping here so avoiding her would be a bit impossibly. He shrugged and shook his head a little, pursing his lips when she asked about any allergies. "Just the usual. Bean sprouts, spinach, green beans and broccoli. " No normal young man liked those things. Forget Popeye. The man had a few screws loose in the head if he liked canned spinach.
Jamie leaned in and gave her a quick hug being careful not to hurt her back where her wings were and then turned to run out stopping briefly to give her a salute on the way out.
