Xavier had managed to escape the Amazons and was now living on the beach in a cave he found. He'd also found a little pirate town not far from where the cave was but kept himself hidden enough to avoid any unnecessary attention on him. The last thing he wanted was to be tossed into another cell. He lived off fish and things that he managed to catch though it took him hours to catch a single one. Xavier had curled up that evening under his wing only to be awoken by the hoot of an owl above him.
He started awake and struggled to his feet before realizing he had four of them and they were in grass. The stag flailed a little on his hooves and looked like he was on ice rather than on dry ground then finally managed to gain footing on the grass. It must have been late in the evening cause the place he was in was dark. He imagined with human eyes he would not be able to see as much as he saw now with his deer eyes. There was a flutter above him and he tilted his head up. Nothing in the trees then behind him...an owl hooted again flying off into the night.
It had been in a tree a few paces away from him and it had sounded like it was above him.... even his hearing was exceptional. The stag, looking like he was doing the splits finally pulled one elegant leg closer, then the other until all four were back under his body. He sniffed at the grass. It smelled delicious and he began to break off pieces to chew and swallow. He was grazing! This was far better than any realm he'd woken up in so far. He LOVED this. The young stag made his way into the meadow eating grass in the moon light as he went along.... until...
His head snapped up at the sound, ears twitching this way and that as he peered into the distance, jaw chewing.
